As a Celebrant, one of the most frequently asked questions we get is what is a Celebrant or what does a Celebrant do. Over Christmas I was at a party and was asked this very question.
First and foremost, I take the time to truly get to know you. Together, we’ll build a genuine connection and design a ceremony that’s uniquely yours. I want to understand your preferences, your vision for your special day, and discover ways to make it even more magical.
Unlike religious ceremonies or a ceremony using a registrar, celebrants aren’t bound by:
- Set scripts, Religious doctrine, Legal constraints or Venue restrictions
This means your ceremony can take place anywhere — beaches, gardens, barns, forests, living rooms — and can include symbolic rituals, readings, music, humour, or cultural traditions.
As your celebrant, I’m both your officiant and storyteller. The ceremony is centred around you—your journey, your passions, and your dreams for the future.
Personal touches are key. We can weave in elements that reflect who you are, whether that means including pets, involving your children, adding special readings or singalongs, playing games, or raising a toast. The possibilities are endless, and we’ll choose what feels right for you.
I also offer support with vow writing for Weddings, Vow Renewals and Commitment Ceremonies, helping you craft words that are heartfelt, funny, or moving—whatever suits your style and brings out genuine emotion.
On the day, I’ll help coordinate the ceremony with open communication with wedding suppliers, the venue, wedding planners and photographers to ensure your ceremony is as perfect as possible. I always come prepared, I have an emergency kit, so with tissues in hand and plasters in pocket, there is no need to worry about teary eyes or blistered heels.
Most importantly, I’m there to be a calming presence. Wedding nerves are real and natural, and I’ll be there to reassure you, reminding you that you’ve got this.
Whatever occasion we are marking with your unique ceremony, a Wedding, a Baby Naming etc, it is my mission to help you create the day you’ve imagined, supporting you every step of the way.
